It is indeed a hard life for maritime students who completed their 3 years academics in school with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) or Marine Engineering (BSMarE) to apply for one (1) year seagoing service as Deck or Engine Cadets to Manning Agencies [Click on the right side of this website to view the complete list]. Since not all 400 POEA Manning Agencies able to accept Cadetship Program to their fleet, according to Seaman OnlinePH that there are only 30 agencies offered cadetship as follows:

As a result of growing number of maritime students not able to board a vessel, Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) recognized only 45 out of 91 registered maritime schools by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) offering BSMT and 39 for BSMarE as of July 13, 2015.
